Zeta Sigma Chi Overview: Facts

LETTERS: ZΣX
NICKNAME: Z-Chis (pronounced "zeekies")
COLORS: Peach and Black
SYMBOL: Unicorn
MOTTO: "Keeping the Dream Alive"
FLOWER: Peach Rose

In 1990, eight determined women at Northern Illinois University came together to form a bond like no other.  They had an idea for an organization that would unify women of different cultures, ethnicities, religions and backgrounds.  This organization would also focus on the pursuit of higher education and achieving academic success.  These strong women wanted not only to teach others at their school about their ideals, but they wanted to share their dreams and experiences with others as well.  On March 3, 1991, Zeta Sigma Chi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. was formed by our FOUNDERS:

"Mommy Chis"
Maribel Campa
Zandra Cortez
Sandra de la Roca
Veronica Escobar
Sandra Gomez
Jacqueline Herrera
Laura Murillo
Julie Sanders

Zeta Sigma Chi is proud of its strength and desire to provide an open-minded organization.  We believe in maintaining a TRUE sisterhood that is accepting of one another no matter what their differences.  We are genuine in our attempts to spread multiculturalism and sisterhood to others in and out of our community.  And we are always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to those who need us on or off campus.  Zeta Sigma Chi realizes that the times are changing, and we are prepared to deal with those changes.  As our world grows ever more diverse, so will Zeta Sigma Chi.  It is in our hopes that other women will also seek the dream that, not only our founders had, but the dream that Z-Chis have and continue to uphold.  Together, we will continue to learn about each other and our diverse heritages, now and always.  We invite ALL women to seek membership with our organization as we shall seek ALL women to maintain the dream of our founders: the dream of spreading multiculturalism and sisterhood everywhere.

We are a 501(c)3 and a 501(c)7 non-profit, social/service organization.

Zeta Sigma Chi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. is nationally insured.
